About the Exhibition and Campaign
WIT Berry developed the concept and full communication strategy for the digital release of A Brave New World and Brave New World Sketches—two art-based exhibitions created by D20 Art Lab within the Horizon Europe project HEPHAESTUS. These exhibitions had already been showcased to broader audiences in Venice (Italy), Gothenburg (Sweden), Bassano del Grappa (Italy, 2023), and Dals Långed (Sweden).
Our goal was to make these thought-provoking works accessible to everyone, regardless of location, by transforming them into a cohesive digital experience. Beyond simply placing the material online, we aimed to build a compelling narrative and communication ecosystem that highlighted the artistic value, research depth, and societal relevance of these exhibitions.
- What did we do?
WIT Berry’s team conceptualised, designed, and executed the entire digital exhibition rollout. This included strategic planning, content organisation, visual communication, integration into existing HEPHAESTUS digital tools, and the development of a multi-channel promotional campaign across social media, newsletters, and partner networks.
- The challenge
A key challenge was finding the optimal way to host and present these materials using the existing infrastructure of the HEPHAESTUS project while maintaining the artistic integrity and immersive quality of the original installations.
We also needed to design a communication journey that informed, inspired, and guided audiences toward the exhibition, while positioning it as an accessible, ongoing resource rather than a one-time event. This meant creating a coordinated campaign that aligned content, timing, visual style, and messaging across all platforms.
- The outcome
The digital exhibitions were successfully launched and made fully accessible to a wide audience across Europe and beyond. The communication campaign generated strong engagement from craft communities, researchers, artists, educators, and the general public – expanding the visibility of the HEPHAESTUS project and strengthening its reputation for creative and future-oriented research.
By making A Brave New World and Brave New World Sketches available online, WIT Berry helped transform a previously location-bound experience into a lasting, open-access resource. The campaign not only amplified the exhibitions but also invited broader reflection on craft-based futures, material reuse, and art-driven research.
The tasks that WIT Berry's team implemented
Action plan
We developed a clear strategic framework outlining the goals, audiences, content flow, and timeline for the digital release. This plan guided the entire process - from organising the exhibition materials to coordinating the multi-channel promotional rollout.
Digital exhibition integration
Digital exhibition integration We structured and adapted the exhibition content to fit the digital tools available within the HEPHAESTUS project. This included preparing materials and multimedia elements in a format that ensured coherence, accessibility and visual impact.
Social media campaign
We designed and executed a social media promotion strategy that introduced the exhibitions, highlighted individual artworks and themes, and showcased the broader vision of the HEPHAESTUS project. The campaign encouraged exploration and interaction, rather than merely announcing the release.
Newsletter & announcements
We produced newsletter content and partner announcements that communicated the launch in an informative and engaging way. The messaging emphasised accessibility, the global reach of the digital exhibition, and the significance of imagining craft-led futures.
Additional communication materials
We created a suite of supporting assets including visual materials, messaging templates, descriptive texts, and promotional elements that partners could use across different channels. All materials aligned with the aesthetic identity of the exhibitions and the HEPHAESTUS project.
